Financial Information
Today’s world of health care can be a confusing sea of forms and choices to navigate. Due to all the complications, we like to speak with new patients about their coverage before they are seen. Our staff will check with your insurance company for coverage details. We participate with most insurances, but will send claims even if we don’t participate.
Ultimately the responsibility for payment and obtaining authorizations is with the patient. If you are disputing a payment from your insurance company and it is a charge that just isn’t covered by your insurance plan, all the appealing in the world won't change a plan's decision to deny your claim benefit.
Should you have any changes in insurance while a patient with us, it is your responsibility to notify us immediately of the change and the effective date. Any delay in notifying us of the change can cause claims to be sent to the wrong insurance company. By the time the information is corrected, it is often too late to send the claim to the correct insurance due to filing deadlines. If this should occur, the patient is 100% responsible for the charges.
Co-payments are due at the time of service. We do not bill for copays. If you are having treatments, an office visit is charged, which will result in a co-payment being due.
Cancer treatment can be very expensive, and we want to work with you to help prevent financial stress during this time. This not only helps you, but also our practice. We are a private practice and do not receive funds from the state to help pay for chemotherapy treatment. We have to pay for the drugs up front the day they are shipped to us - we are not paid for this expense until after your treatment is given and then billed to the insurance company.
Sometimes we are able to work with the drug companies to obtain free drug if you meet the financial guidelines.
Guidelines for payment plans can be found in your New Patient Packet.
